Artist: Novak Ivan
was born in 1985 in Sisak, Croatia. After completing my studies at the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb, I enrolled in the Graphic Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2004. During my fifth semester, I joined the class of Professor Frane Paro, and in the seventh semester, I switched to the class of Professor Nevenka Arbanas. Simultaneously, I also studied under the guidance of Professor Damir Mataušić, focusing on Small Sculpture and Medal Making. In 2008, I brought my artistic vision to life with the public artwork “Le Coq” at Villa Fleck, Parc de Mauriac, Ingersheim, France. I successfully graduated in 2010 under the mentorship of Professor Nevenka Arbanas, with a thesis dedicated to the Sisak painter Slavo Striegl. In 2012, I acquired pedagogical, psychological, didactic, and methodological education, and in 2016, I became a certified art teacher. In 2016, I became a member of the Croatian Association of Fine Artists (HDLU). So far, my artistic journey has included fourteen solo exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, along with participation in thirty-eight group exhibitions. My work is deeply rooted in traditional visual art techniques. With a profound understanding of materials and tools, I craft aesthetically pleasing and technically precise pieces. I have a penchant for shifting certain figurative motifs towards abstraction, embracing simplified forms that resonate with contemporary art.
